Schedule

Last Thursday of August: MOD Kick-Off

Our MOD Kick-Off brings coaches and teams together and meet before the first official practice or game. After learning names (and handing out uniforms, pending their arrival), teams play a few games to get excited about the season ahead.

Practices

U9 practices are held one weeknight per week between 4:00pm and 7:00pm at Magnolia Playfield North (see field information below). Practices are one hour long, with the option to shorten to 45 minutes as it gets dark earlier. Practices are based entirely on our volunteer coach schedules and are not determined until a team has been formed. We are not able to accommodate players switching teams if a practice time does not work for their family's schedule. Attendance at practice has no impact on game-day playing time.

Games

U9 games are held on Saturdays at Magnolia Playfield North between 9:00am and 3:00pm. The schedule is released at the end of August.

Last Sunday in October: MOD World Cup

Our last official MOD event is the World Cup at Interbay Stadium on the last Sunday of October. All MOD teams play three shortened matches back-to-back. U9 is typically scheduled to take the field between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. We recommend families arrive early for their scheduled spot due to limited parking and to not miss the parade!

Field

All U9 practices and games are played at Magnolia Playfield North, north of Catharine Blaine playground. â€‹

SYSA background checked adults and players may be on the inside of the field. All other spectators that have not undergone training and background checks must be on the outside of the fields (see image). This is for insurance purposes and for player safety.

Coaches

Our U9 coaches should focus on skills and drills while supplementing training with games that still teach the sport.

U9 coaches should stay on the sidelines during a game, limiting communication to player directions while maintaining a positive attitude.
