Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life

Have you ever wondered where our extra or donated MOD jerseys go?

Dear Friends of Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life:

Welcome to 2011! At Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life, this year has already been a busy one. In February, friends and I traveled to Northern Tanzania to continue our support of the people of this region, the Wa-arusha Masai. This is our third year working in support of the most needed people in Africa. Many of you have made generous contributions to this effort, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. I'd also like to provide you some updates about our recent work, as well as sharing hopes and plans for work yet to come.

The Wa-arusha Masai live in one of the most remote portions of Northern Tanzania. From the beginnings of our participation with them, the goal of Rainbow of Magnolia Fountains of Life has been to make Masai village more self-sustaining by eliminating the villagers' need to travel long distance in order to obtain basic neccessities of life. Previous efforts included the digging of a deep-bore well. This now makes it possible for village women to draw water in their own community, instead of making an arduous daily journey of many miles.

This year, we focused our efforts on the children of the Masai community. During February, we completed work on a school for village children ages ten and up. Just as the well eliminated the need for their mothers to make the long daily journey, so the school now enables the children to receive an education close to home. The school supports the local economy through the hiring of a teacher, and the children attend free of charge. But we didn't make things all work and no play. We also provided soccer supplies, uniforms, balls, and shoes. It's important to look forward to recess, after all!

We have accomplished many things in the last three years. But we have no intention of sitting back and resting our laurels. We are deeply committed to continuing our efforts to aid the different communities in Tanzania, Kenya and Cameroon as they work to become as independent and self-sustaining as possible. A recent donation of sewing machines and sewing classes, for example, is making it possible for area women to broaden their skills and creates the potential to increase village income. Future plans is to support orphanage in Uganda. I invite you to join with us as we move forward.

In closing, I would like to make reference to part of what drives me to perform this work: the desire to improve the lives of others, one individual at a time. It is this same spirit that I thank you. The letter you hold in your hands is not simply a form-letter of thanks. It represents my appreciation of each and every one of you, one supporter at a time.

With best wishes and hopes for the future.
